Day 3 First day of the holiday club
This morning started with Avril singing us her beautiful morning wake-up song. Some of us were definitely not ready to wake up but we had no choice as we had to be at the center at 8:00am.
Breakfast was the usual although Luritha decided to have mi goreng and Mrs Howard was not very impressed as it was not a very healthy breakfast. She then decided to move onto Pringles and then got a lecture about the amount of preservatives in them. Did you know that Pringles are not actually made from potato. They are made from the starch. Rowell ate his usual peanut butter and Nutrigrain cereal for breakfast and everyone thought it was a bit strange but was willing to try it. Jean had her usual two bowls of Chocolate Crispy’s and thoroughly enjoyed it.
After breakfast we got ready and some people went for a shower and some did not. Joshua as he was in the shower found an enormous grasshopper on his shoulder. He said, “Was that a flying cricket?” and he ran for his life!!! Luritha and Gwyneth really did not want to wake up so they slept an extra ten minutes but then had to get up.
After breakfast we headed down to the gym and practiced our lines for the drama that we had to do. We were also setting up the craft. At 9:00 the kids started lining up outside the door and Luritha, Nelson, Gwyneth and Viola were in charge of registration. Once we opened the door, kids flooded in from all angles and were very excited to see us. We wrote down their names on the paper and then on name tags according to their year group.
We then went to our groups and made a banner shortly followed but a devotion about Peter denying Jesus. After that we sang songs, (Thumbs Up, Peanut Butter and the Polar Explorers theme song.) All the kids enjoyed it as it involved a lot of dancing. We then joined the kids in the making a craft of four types. Making a book, air freshener, painting and then a hat with three flames on it which represented the coming of the Holy Spirit to the people.
We had games like Musical Statues, Musical Bobs and Knights and Cavaliers. The kids really enjoyed participating in these games.
After lunch, we had stations of, face painting, (Olivia, Sage and Luritha got some really good pieces of art done on the faces by the kids) nail polish, volleyball, soccer and football. The sporting events were held on the oval as it would not have been very successful in the gym.
Dinner was great and specially made by Michael’s mum. After dinner we watched “Happy Feet,” with the kids and the students were very loved by the children of Leonora.
Dit was n lekker dag.
Hari ini hebat.
